Battle of Bands Finale: Foxfollow vs. Shankool
This past Monday night we had an epic head to head finale for our Battle of the Bands competition generously hosted by Ruperts Brew House. Facing off on the mystical Monday evening was Foxfollow and Shankool.
Shankool, who hails from Bay City Michigan, takes his influences from new wave, synthpop, and funk opened the night with his groovy tunes. He engaged the audience well and seamlessly transitioned from one vibe to the next. His lyricism and groove would be tough to match by his opponent. Foxfollow, a Kalamazoo based band, which includes Pat Mehall and Nick Ploof on guitar, Evan Hall on bass, Jim Tumavich on drums, and Derek Mann on lead vocals. The melodic metalcore group played a lively set, screaming right into the hearts and ears of the audience. They engaged the pub well, were exciting to watch, and left the room buzzing with energy even after they had finished there set.
After an hour of fantastic live music performances from ranges tastes and styles, it was time to decide the winner. After difficult deliberation by the judges and input from the greater WIDR community Shankool was named the 2019 winner of WIDR’s Battle of the Bands competition.
